Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Efficient side-channel attacks beyond divide-and-conquer strategy

Computer Networks, 2021
Abstract Side channel attacks exploit physical information that leaks from a cryptographic device, for example power, to extract secret information, such as secret keys. While such attacks are effective for small keys with 8 or 16 bits, they are not viable in practice, however, where keys are much larger, such as 128 bits in AES 128 or more. In order

Divide and Conquer Strategies for MLP Training

The 2006 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Network Proceedings, 2006
Over time, neural networks have proven to be extremely powerful tools for data exploration with the capability to discover previously unknown dependencies and relationships in the data sets. However, the sheer volume of available data and its dimensionality makes data exploration a challenge.

Image enhancement using divide-and-conquer strategy

Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation, 2017
A novel divide-and-conquer strategy for image enhancement is proposed. The difference of image low-frequency and high-frequency is utilized. The different importance of low-frequency and high-frequency is exploited. This strategy is effective in image naturalization and details promotion.

Dividing and Conquering: Strategies for Segmentation

International Journal of Bank Marketing, 1985
Market segmentation is a powerful and discriminating method of grouping customers categorically so that their needs may be properly addressed. Segmentation can be devised on a geographic, demographic, sociographic or psychographic basis, but a bank will only maintain its competitive edge if all customers are considered within the same perspective ...
