Verification, Validation, and Testing of Kinetic Mechanisms of Hydrogen Combustion in Fluid‐Dynamic Computations

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
A one‐step, a two‐step, an abridged, a skeletal, and four detailed kinetic schemes of hydrogen oxidation have been tested. A new skeletal kinetic scheme of hydrogen oxidation has been developed. The CFD calculations were carried out using ANSYS CFX software. Ignition delay times and speeds of flames were derived from the computational results.

Standoff detection and classifcation procedure for bioorganic compounds by hyperspectral laser-induced fluorescence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The high and still increasing number of attacks by hazardous bioorganic materials makes enormous demands on their detection. A very high detection sensitivity and differentiability are essential, as well as a rapid identification with low false alarm ...

Visualization of the Detonation Wave Structure in a Small-Scale Hydrogen–Oxygen Rotating Detonation Combustor

open access: yesAerospace
This study presents the high-speed visualization of the detonation wave structure in a small-scale hydrogen–oxygen rotating detonation combustor. A 68 mm Rotating Detonation Combustor was modified with a quartz-glass ring, such that radial optical access

Understanding Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability in Paraffin-Based Hybrid Rocket Fuels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Liquefying fuels show higher regression rates than the classical polymeric ones. They are able to form, along their burning surface, a low viscosity and surface tension liquid layer, which can become unstable (Kelvin--Helmholtz instability) due to the ...

Driving and damping mechanisms for transverse combustion instabilities in liquid rocket engines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work presents the analysis of a transverse combustion instability in a reduced-scale rocket engine. The study is conducted on a time-resolved database of three-dimensional fields obtained via large-eddy simulation.
