This article reports a case of unintended excision of Descemet's membrane (DM) during a routine cataract extraction (CE), which was successfully treated by Desecemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK).During routine CE of a 91-year old male patient the DM was almost completely detached and excised. The DMEK was successfully performed, the cornea ...

Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of the first cases of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) performed by an anterior segment surgeon, learning the procedure, including graft preparation, primarily from watching YouTube videos. DMEK surgery was not learned during fellowship training; there was no attendance at DMEK

DMEK Without Postoperative Supine Posturing
Cornea, 2022Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the incidence of graft detachment after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) without postoperative supine posturing. Methods: A total of 106 eyes of 84 patients with Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy or bullous ...

The aim of this study was to describe the incidence and management of the complications of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) surgery performed by a single surgeon. This is a retrospective case series. The clinical records of 72 consecutive patients (75 eyes) who underwent a DMEK with a minimum of 1-month postoperative follow-up were ...

Preloaded DMEK With Endothelium Outward: A Multicenter Clinical Study Using DMEK Rapid Device
Cornea, 2023Purpose: The objective of this study is to validate Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) Rapid device for preloading DMEK grafts with endothelium outward. Methods: In this multicenter retrospective clinical study, DMEK tissues (n = 27) were peeled and preloaded (8.25 mm)

We report a Patient with Fuchs dystrophy who underwent three Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasties (DMEK) caused by recurrent graft failure with raise in intraocular pressure and cystoid macular edema. At the third DMEK, herpes was detected in the anterior chamber tap and an adequate therapy was initiated.

Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK)
Cornea, 2006Purpose: To describe Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) with organ cultured Descemet membrane (DM) in a human cadaver eye model and a patient with Fuchs endothelial dystrophy. Methods: In 10 human cadaver eyes and 1 patient eye, a 3.5-mm clear corneal tunnel incision ...

Intraoperative OCT-Assisted DMEK
Cornea, 2015To describe the utility of a new intraoperative optical coherence tomographer (OCT) to evaluate endothelio-Descemet graft orientation during Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) procedures.Prospective, observational, and single-center pilot case series including 14 eyes of 14 patients consecutively scheduled for DMEK surgery.
