Development of High Performance Micro DMFCS and a DMFC Stack
Journal of Fuel Cell Science and Technology, 2005A silicon-based micro direct methanol fuel cell (μDMFC) for portable applications has been fabricated and its electrochemical characterization carried out. A membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) was specially fabricated to mitigate methanol crossover. The cell with active area of 1.625cm2 demonstrated a maximum power density of 50mW∕cm2 at 60°C. Since the

Performance of Microtubular DMFCs
Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters, 2004A novel design for a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is proposed using a microtubular electrolyte. The performance of microtubular DMFCs was tested under several preparation conditions. We show that the catalyst layer composition and the hot-pressing process are critical to microtubular DMFC performance.

PVdF-Based Membranes for DMFC Applications
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2003This paper reports the synthesis and the properties of microporous, ceramic-added, composite poly(vinylidene) fluoride (PVdF)-based proton conducting membranes for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). The favorable characteristics of these membranes are an high and stable conductivity, a proton transport mechanism not critically related to the water ...

A Parametric Analysis on DMFC Anode Degradation
Fuel Cells, 2013AbstractDegradation is one of the critical issues of direct methanol fuel cells. The experimental investigations found in the literature show that degradation has both permanent and temporary contributions. The latter can be recovered after operation interruption, but its origins are not fully understood.

Generation of Hydrogen Peroxide in DMFC
ECS Transactions, 2009The novel process of H2O2 generation in the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) composed from the "Black Pearls 2000" gas-diffusion cathode (GDE), washed by sodium chloride brine or sea water for O2 electro-reduction and the half-membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) with the Nafion 115® cation-exchange membrane (CEM), hot pressed on one side with the ...
