DMPP causes relaxation of rat distal colon by a purinergic and a nitrergic mechanism

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1997
The non-adrenergic relaxation of carbachol precontracted longitudinal muscle of the rat distal colon was investigated. Intrinsic nerves were activated by the nicotinic, ganglionic receptor agonist, 1,1-dimethyl-4-phenylpiperazinium iodide (DMPP). DMPP at 1 and 4 microM caused a relaxation that was markedly antagonized by the nerve blocker tetrodotoxin (

Actions of piperidine and dimethylphenylpiperazinium (DMPP) on afferent discharges of the cat's carotid body

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1979
Chemoreceptor discharges were recorded in vivo from fine filaments of carotid sinus nerve; their frequency was used as index of receptor activity. Effects of piperidine on chemoreceptors were studied and compared with those of dimethylphenylpiperazinium (DMPP) on chemoreceptors in adult cats.

Analysis of the cardiovascular responses to McN-A-343 and DMPP in pithed guinea-pigs

Neuropharmacology, 1980
Abstract General characteristics and pharmacological properties of the presser response and tachycardia produced by intravenous administration of 4-(m-chlorophenylcarbamoyloxy-2-butynyltrimethylammonium (McN-A-343) in pithed guinea-pigs were compared with those of 1,1-dimethyl-4-phenylpiperazinium (DMPP).

The nitrification inhibitor DMPP had no effect on denitrifying enzyme activity

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 2002
Abstract Denitrifying enzyme activity (DEA) and flux rates of nitrous oxide (N2O) and dinitrogen (N2) were studied in DEA assays on soils treated with 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP). Nitrous oxide and N2 fluxes were quantified by 15N gas-flux method with no additional enzymatic inhibitors, thus, overcoming problems associated with the use of ...

Cardiostimulatory effects of oxyfedrine, DMPP and sympathomimetics in relation to their3H-noradrenaline-releasing properties

Naunyn-Schmiedebergs Archiv fr Pharmakologie, 1971
The effect of noradrenaline, norephedrine, oxyfedrine and DMPP on isotonic contractions and release of3H-noradrenaline was studied using isolated perfused guinea-pig hearts.

Dual Effect of DMPP on the Resting Release of Noradrenaline from Rat Hippocampal Slices

Brain Research Bulletin, 1997
The effect of the nicotinic receptor agonist dimethylphenylpiperazinium iodide (DMPP) on the resting release of [3H]noradrenaline from superfused hippocampal slices was studied in rat. Continuous administration of DMPP at a concentration range of 1-100 microM increased the [3H]noradrenaline release in a dose-dependent manner.

The impact of the nitrification inhibitor DMPP on agricultural soil microbial communities

Agricultural soils contribute as major polluters of nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions in Europe, which are a result of microbial nitrification and denitrification processes. Nitrification inhibitors (NI) have gained attention by decreasing N2O emissions and nitrate leaching, thereby promoting the uptake of nitrogen (N) by plants.
