Mass balancing for coal processing plant design [PDF]
With the advent of modern mass balancing programmes, the roots of what makes up these programmes are being lost to all but the developers. This paper draws on the author's experience of designing coal processing plants whilst straddling the transition ...

Variability of atmospheric dimethylsulphide over the southern Indian Ocean due to changes in ultraviolet radiation [PDF]
Dimethylsulphide (DMS) is a climatically important component of global biogeochemical cycles, through its role in the sulphur cycle. Changes in ultraviolet radiation (UV) exhibit both positive and negative forcings on the dynamics of production and ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Biogeographic traits of dimethyl sulfide and dimethylsulfoniopropionate cycling in polar oceans
Background Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) is the dominant volatile organic sulfur in global oceans. The predominant source of oceanic DMS is the cleavage of dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP), which can be produced by marine bacteria and phytoplankton.

Three-dimensionally confined diluted magnetic semiconductor clusters. Zn1−xMnxS [PDF]
We report the first example of a dilute magnetic semiconductor (DMS) confined in all three dimensions (DMS quantum dot). Zn0.93Mn0.07S clusters of not, vert, similar 25 Å diameter are successfully synthesized inside a glass matrix and fully characterized
