Importance of DMSA stability, its consequence for Sn(DMSA)2 complex formation and relevance to 99mTc-DMSA radipharmacs preparation

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2011
The dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) stability at pH = 3.8, 7.1, 8.8 and the interaction with SnCl2·2H2O were investigated. The degradation of DMSA is the most significant at alkali pH. There where observed oxidized and dimerized forms of DMSA and fumaric acid presence.

Tc-99m DMSA Localization in Infantile Hemangioma

open access: yesClinical Nuclear Medicine, 2002
The authors describe a neonate with bilateral dysplastic kidneys who underwent Tc-99m DMSA scintigraphy for the assessment of renal cortical functions. Although poor renal uptake was noted on the Tc-99m DMSA scan, an unusual area of soft tissue accumulation was detected in the right hypochondrium.

Human Studies with the Chelating Agents, DMPS and DMSA

open access: yesJournal of Toxicology: Clinical Toxicology, 1992
Meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) is bound to plasma albumin in humans and appears to be excreted in the urine as the DMSA-cysteine mixed disulfide. The pharmacokinetics of DMSA have been determined after its administration to humans po. For the blood, the tmax and t1/2 were 3.0 h + 0.45 SE and 3.2 h + 0.56 SE, respectively.

99mTc(V)DMSA quantitatively predicts 188Re(V)DMSA distribution in patients with prostate cancer metastatic to bone

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 2000
Rhenium-188 dimercaptosuccinic acid complex [(188)Re(V)DMSA], a potential therapeutic analogue of the tumour imaging agent (99m)Tc(V)DMSA, is selectively taken up in bone metastases in patients with prostate cancer. It would be helpful in planning palliative radionuclide therapy if (99m)Tc(V)DMSA could be used to predict tumour and kidney retention of (

Megaureter visualization on Tc-99m DMSA scintigraphy

open access: yesAnnals of Nuclear Medicine, 2005
We present a patient with left-sided obstructed megaureter secondary to neuropathic bladder. He was referred for technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid ((99m)Tc-DMSA) renal cortical scintigraphy to evaluate renal cortical function. Images obtained 4 hr after injection showed significant activity in the dilated left ureter. When the ureter is visualized

DMSA-Functionalized Mesoporous Alumina with a High Capacity for Selective Isolation of Immunoglobulin G

open access: yesACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2019
A novel dimercaptosuccinic acid-functionalized mesoporous alumina (DMSA–MA) is synthesized by the dicarboxylic acid groups of dimercaptosuccinic acid molecules coordinating to the Al3+ ions located in the mesostructure. The as-prepared DMSA–MA composites

DMSA-Functionalized Gold Nanorod on Paper for Colorimetric Detection and Estimation of Arsenic (III and V) Contamination in Groundwater

open access: yesACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2018
Functionalization of gold nanorod (GNR) with dimercaptosuccinic acid is reported as a way to develop a sensor, GNR-PEG-DMSA that can rapidly detect very low concentrations of arsenic contamination in water and using the paper strip.

An unusual DMSA scan—Question

Pediatric Nephrology, 2011
A 4-year-old boy presented at the age of 2 with a urinary tract infection (UTI) associated with a febrile illness. Urine culture grew Escherichia coli at >10 organisms/ml. He received a treatment course of antibiotics and was then commenced on antibiotic prophylaxis.

99Tcm (v) DMSA

Nuclear Medicine Communications, 1990
Technetium-99m (99Tcm) (v) dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) is a new tumour imaging agent which has been used to evaluate head and neck tumours. It has a normal head and neck biodistribution to include the lacrimal glands, nasal mucosa and the blood-pool. Seventy-seven patients were studied of whom 63 had a head and neck malignancy. Of these patients, 19
