PTEN “meets” DMSO

Leukemia Research, 2005
0 d hysiological PTEN substrate is the lipidic second messener phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3). Thus, TEN reverts the phosphoinositide-3-kinases (PI3K) phoshorilation of phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) o PIP3. As PIP3 activates the serine–threonine kinase Akt, hich is involved in anti-apoptosis, proliferation and oncoenesis,

Pharmacology of DMSO

Cryobiology, 1986
A wide range of primary pharmacological actions of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) has been documented in laboratory studies: membrane penetration, membrane transport, effects on connective tissue, anti-inflammation, nerve blockade (analgesia), bacteriostasis, diuresis, enhancement or reduction of the effectiveness of other drugs, cholinesterase inhibition ...

Dmso in otology

The Laryngoscope, 1976
AbstractThe most controversial therapeutic agent in the past decade has been dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), an industrial solvent to which great healing‐powers have been attributed. After initial laboratory testing, DMSO was rapidly introduced into veterinarian medicine and clinical medicine as an experimental agent with the ability to relieve pain, reduce

Reverse micelles solubilizing DMSO and DMSO/water mixtures

Chemical Physics Letters, 2000
Abstract Aerosol OT/cyclohexane reverse micelles solubilizing DMSO and DMSO/water mixtures have been investigated utilizing dynamic light scattering, IR spectroscopy and UV/vis absorption by a polarity probe. Without water, ∼2.5 DMSO molecules/AOT molecule are solubilized inside the micelles.

Crystal Structure of Praseodymium(III) Complex [Pr(DMSO)8]2PMo10V2O40(NO3) · DMSO (DMSO = Dimethyl Sulfoxide)

Russian Journal of Coordination Chemistry, 2004
Crystal structure of [Pr(DMSO)8]2PMo10V2O40(NO3) · DMSO (where DMSO is dimethyl sulfoxide) is determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The Pr atom forms coordination polyhedron shaped like a distorted square antiprism with Pr–O distances varying from 2.432(6) to 2.476(6) A.

Solubility of PbCl2 in DMSO and DMSO—water solutions

Hydrometallurgy, 1997
Abstract Non-aqueous solvents such as dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) have been investigated from time to time as a useful complement to or substitute for typical hydrometallurgical unit operations. This study presents solubility data for PbCl2, FeCl3, and FeCl2 in DMSO as a function of temperature.

Synthesis and structure of [(DMSO)2H][OsNO(DMSO)Cl4]

Russian Chemical Bulletin, 1994
A new complex of dimethyl sulfoxide nitrosoosmium [(DMSO)2H][OsNO(DMSO)Cl4] has been prepared by reacting H2[OsNOCl5] with DMSO in acetone. Its structure has been established by IR spectroscopy and X-ray structural analysis.
