Network structure of curdlan in DMSO and mixture of DMSO and water
Biopolymers, 2000The viscoelastic property of curdlan solution in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was investigated. We discuss the difference in the viscoelastic properties of curdlan solution in DMSO and that in 0.1 N NaOH aqueous solution. The viscoelastic function for curdlan solution in 0.1 N NaOH aqueous solution showed the Newtonian flow at the concentration of curdlan

The effect on the secondary structure of representative alpha-helical, beta-sheet and disordered proteins by varying concentrations of dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) in 2H2O has been investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Significant perturbations of protein secondary structure are induced by DMSO and DMSO/2H2O mixtures.

0 d hysiological PTEN substrate is the lipidic second messener phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3). Thus, TEN reverts the phosphoinositide-3-kinases (PI3K) phoshorilation of phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) o PIP3. As PIP3 activates the serine–threonine kinase Akt, hich is involved in anti-apoptosis, proliferation and oncoenesis,

Solubility of PbCl2 in DMSO and DMSO—water solutions
Hydrometallurgy, 1997Abstract Non-aqueous solvents such as dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) have been investigated from time to time as a useful complement to or substitute for typical hydrometallurgical unit operations. This study presents solubility data for PbCl2, FeCl3, and FeCl2 in DMSO as a function of temperature.

DMSO is a substrate for chloroperoxidase
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1983Dimethyl sulfoxide has been used as a nonaqueous organic solvent in haloperoxidase reactions. However, it has been found that this solvent is not inert under chloroperoxidase reaction conditions, forming the halosulfoxide, the sulfone, and the halosulfone. The biological significance of this finding is briefly discussed.

The high resolution crystal structure of DMSO reductase in complex with DMSO.
Journal of molecular biology, 1998The crystal structure of the molybdenum enzyme dimethylsulphoxide reductase (DMSOR) has been determined at 1.9 A resolution with substrate bound at the active site. DMSOR is an oxotransferase which catalyses the reduction of dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) to dimethylsulphide (DMS) in a two stage reaction which is linked to oxygen atom transfer and electron ...

Synthesis and structure of [(DMSO)2H][OsNO(DMSO)Cl4]
Russian Chemical Bulletin, 1994A new complex of dimethyl sulfoxide nitrosoosmium [(DMSO)2H][OsNO(DMSO)Cl4] has been prepared by reacting H2[OsNOCl5] with DMSO in acetone. Its structure has been established by IR spectroscopy and X-ray structural analysis.
