The Intricate Interplay between APOBEC3 Proteins and DNA Tumour Viruses

open access: yesPathogens
APOBEC3 proteins are cytidine deaminases that play a crucial role in the innate immune response against viruses, including DNA viruses. Their main mechanism for restricting viral replication is the deamination of cytosine to uracil in viral DNA during ...

Thermodynamics of DNA packaging inside a viral capsid: the role of DNA intrinsic thickness [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
We characterize the equilibrium thermodynamics of a thick polymer confined in a spherical region of space. This is used to gain insight into the DNA packaging process. The experimental reference system for the present study is the recent characterization of the loading process of the genome inside the $\phi$29 bacteriophage capsid.

Kidney Fibrosis In Vitro and In Vivo Models: Path Toward Physiologically Relevant Humanized Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses kidney diseases with a focus on kidney fibrosis and the models currently used. It highlights the limitations of animal and 2D in vitro models in replicating human kidney anatomy and physiology. Consequently, there is a significant need for humanized 3D in vitro models, such as 3D cell aggregates, membranes and hydrogels, on‐chip ...

Co‐Delivery of Multiple Toll‐Like Receptor Agonists and Avian Influenza Hemagglutinin on Protein Nanoparticles Enhances Vaccine Immunogenicity and Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This research highlights a novel application of protein nanoparticles to effectively modulate the strength, breadth, and bias of an immune response against influenza virus. Nanoparticles precisely co‐delivering antigen (H5) and multiple adjuvants (CpG and FliCc) present a way to improve and direct prophylactic immune responses which can be applicable ...

CircAars‐Engineered ADSCs Facilitate Maxillofacial Bone Defects Repair Via Synergistic Capability of Osteogenic Differentiation, Macrophage Polarization and Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of circAars‐engineered‐ADSCs incorporated into GelMA scaffolds for craniomaxillofacial bone regeneration. CircAars‐engineered ADSCs embedded in GelMA scaffolds enhance the repair of critical‐sized bone defects by binding miR‐128‐3p in the cytoplasm, thereby inhibiting its activity.
