Effect of granaticin on the activity of DNA-directed RNA polymerase fromStreptomyces granaticolor
Folia Microbiologica, 1989DNA-directed RNA polymerase was isolated from wild-type and mutant (asporogenic and granaticin overproducing) Streptomyces granaticolor. The effect of granaticin on the enzyme activity was compared with that of standard transcription inhibitors, rifampicin and rifamycin SV and shown to be zero.

A DNA-directed DNA polymerase from murine liver mitochondria
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1975A DNA-directed DNA polymerase has been isolated from murine liver mitochondria. The mitochondrial DNA polymerase is distinguishable from other DNA polymerases found in the nucleus and cytosol of murine cells by several enzymatic and physical properties. It is stimulated 5--6-fold by 0.15 M KCl, does not require a sulfhydryl reducing agent for activity,

On the Binding of Rifampicin to the DNA‐Directed RNA Polymerase from Escherichia coli
European Journal of Biochemistry, 1973The capacity of RNA polymerase to bind the antibiotic rifampicin is rather sensitive to conditions which lead to conformational changes in the enzyme. Repeated freezing and thawing in 1 M LiCl as well as treatment with guanidinium chloride destroys the binding affinity of the enzyme for the inhibitor. Similarly rifampicin does not associate with any of

DNA-directed RNA polymerase (DDRP) related genes and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in the development of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Therefore, we aimed to construct a DDRP-associated lncRNA model to predict the prognosis of LUAD and to evaluate its sensitivity to ...

The isolation and properties of a DNA-directed RNA polymerase from yeast mitochondria
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1976A method is described for the rapid isolation of yeast mitochondrial DNA-directed RNA polymerase. The enzyme obtained had a specific activity of 1.56 nmol UMP incorporated per mg protein in 20 min at 37 degrees C, and is some 95% pure. This purified enzyme upon polyacrylamide gel elctrophoresis consists of a single polypeptide of 68 000 mol.

Polyacetylenetriol (PAT), a natural marine product from the Mediterranean sea sponge Petrosia sp., was found to be a novel general potent inhibitor of DNA polymerases. It inhibits equally well the RNA- and DNA-dependent DNA polymerase activities of retroviral reverse transcriptases (RTs) (i.e.

Mitochondrial DNA-directed RNA polymerase from Saccharomyces cerevisae mitochondria
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1971Abstract A DNA-directed RNA polymerase activity has been detected in yeast mitochondrial extracts which is sensitive to rifampicin. This activity is distinct from that found in the nucleus and cytoplasm, and is possibly coded for, or under the control of the mitochondrial genome.

Activated DNA-directed DNA synthesis catalyzed by Rauscher leukemia virus (RLV) and other type C mammalian retroviral DNA polymerases is uniquely stimulated by biologically active polyamines. Cationic trypanocides may act as antagonists of polyamine function.

Rett syndrome (RTT, MIM 312750) is a progressive neurodevelopmental disorder that affects females almost exclusively, caused by mutations in MECP2 gene on chromosome Xq28, with symptoms such as autism, severe mental deficiency, deceleration of head growth, ataxia, loss of purposeful hand function and characteristic stereotypic hand movements.
