Novel Modalities in DNA Data Storage

Trends in Biotechnology, 2021
The field of storing information in DNA has expanded exponentially. Most common modalities involve encoding information from bits into synthesized nucleotides, storage in liquid or dry media, and decoding via sequencing. However, limitations to this paradigm include the cost of DNA synthesis and sequencing, along with low throughput. Further unresolved

Molecular digital data storage using DNA

Nature Reviews Genetics, 2019
Molecular data storage is an attractive alternative for dense and durable information storage, which is sorely needed to deal with the growing gap between information production and the ability to store data. DNA is a clear example of effective archival data storage in molecular form.

Preservation of DNA for data storage

Russian Chemical Reviews, 2021
The preservation of DNA has attracted significant interest of scientists in diverse research fields from ancient biological remains to the information field. In light of the different DNA safekeeping requirements (e.g., storage time, storage conditions) in these

Data Storage in DNA

International Journal of Electrical Energy, 2014
Human-beings have always been fond of accessing more and more information in minimum possible time and space. Consequently New Generation Computers and High Speed Internet have gained popularity in the recent years. We have been witness to remarkable achievements like the transition from the bulky hard-drives to the flash drives which has made personal

DNA Data Storage in Perl

Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering, 2020
Here we report a simple and flexible method for DNA data storage based on Perl script. For this approach, the text data of the preamble of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” consisting of 2,046 words was encoded into the corresponding 8,148 base pairs of DNA using Perl-based encoding with a hash table.

Encoding movies and data in DNA storage

2016 Information Theory and Applications Workshop (ITA), 2016
Focusing on error-correction methods and codes, a systems level design is presented for encoding movies and digital information in DNA storage. A source of data (e.g., movies, audio) is compressed, efficiently encoded with redundant information, modulated, and stored in multiple DNA oligonucleotide strands. The goal is to decode the source from the DNA
