Revisiting the Conservation Status of Cobitis taenia in Switzerland Using Environmental DNA
ABSTRACT Freshwater loaches of the genus Cobitis are small benthic fish inhabiting fine sediments in slow‐flowing rivers and vegetated lakes. Due to their small size, low economic value and inconspicuous behaviour, they are rarely studied, and their taxonomy and distribution remain poorly understood.

Marine mammals are sentinel species for ocean and human health. Multiple anthropogenic and environmental stressors threaten these organisms, particularly China's spotted seals, which have experienced significant decline over the past half‐century. Our review reveals low genetic diversity in Chinese spotted seal populations.

ABSTRACT Understanding the mechanisms of competition and coexistence among sympatric species is crucial for deepening our understanding of interspecific interactions and informing the conservation of rare and endangered wildlife. In this study, we utilized DNA macro‐barcoding technology to analyze the seasonal dietary habits of Kiang (Equus kiang) and ...

We used eDNA metabarcoding of faecal samples to quantify the dietary composition of two vervet monkey populations in a semi‐urban environment in South Africa over a 4‐month period, and compared these results with visual observations. We found that both methods yielded similar results, but eDNA metabarcoding revealed a greater diversity of consumed taxa.
