Models and information-theoretic bounds for nanopore sequencing
Nanopore sequencing is an emerging new technology for sequencing DNA, which can read long fragments of DNA (~50,000 bases) in contrast to most current short-read sequencing technologies which can only read hundreds of bases. While nanopore sequencers can

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Frequent Patterns Mining in DNA Sequence
As a common biological sequence, DNA sequences contain important information. The discovery of frequent patterns in DNA sequences can help to study the evolution, function and variation of genes.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation and neurodegeneration
Mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell, play a critical role in several metabolic processes and apoptotic pathways. Many lines of evidence suggest that mitochondria have a central role in ageing-related neurodegenerative diseases.

Photoelectrochemical Detection of Dengue-Related Oligonucleotide Sequence Using Anthocyanin as an Intercalating Agent and Electrochromic Material [PDF]
World Health Organization (WHO) presupposes a confirmation of dengue virus infection diagnosis with two criteria, i.e. clinical and laboratory criteria.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Nucleosome DNA sequence structure of isochores
Background Significant differences in G+C content between different isochore types suggest that the nucleosome positioning patterns in DNA of the isochores should be different as well. Results Extraction of the patterns from the isochore DNA sequences by

A p-Adic Model of DNA Sequence and Genetic Code
Using basic properties of p-adic numbers, we consider a simple new approach to describe main aspects of DNA sequence and genetic code. Central role in our investigation plays an ultrametric p-adic information space which basic elements are nucleotides ...
