Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je izraditi prvi pregled danjih i noćnih leptira Dugog Otoka. U tu svrhu napravljen je prethodni pregled dosad objavljene literature te je utvrđeno 161 otprije poznatih vrsta. U proljeće 2017. godine provedeno je vlastito terensko istraživanje koje je rezultiralo pronalaskom 57 novih vrsta za otok.
