European Arid Anomaly Explained With Southward Drift of Eurasia During the Late Jurassic Polar Shift

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract The sedimentary successions of several basins in Europe show evidence of widespread Late Jurassic aridification that is considered a long‐standing conundrum in paleoclimate modeling. The distinctive feature of this event is that it appears concentrated in a discrete time interval between the Kimmeridgian (Late Jurassic) and the Berriasian ...

News on old sites: the Middle Palaeolithic occupation at Cheia – La Izvor (Southeastern Romania)

open access: yesMateriale și Cercetări Arheologice, 2022
Our paper presents new information regarding the site of Cheia – La Izvor. New radiocarbon ages were obtained, and they confirm that the occupation was at around 36 ka BP (ca. 40 ka cal BP).

Soil organic carbon to clay ratio and bulk density related to some basic soil variables in Romania

open access: yesSoil Use and Management, Volume 41, Issue 1, January‐March 2025.
Abstract This study analyses the soil organic carbon to clay (SOC/clay) ratio, bulk density (ρB) and packing density (ρP) related to some basic soil variables, soil classes and soil types, land uses of various environments, to assess recommendations made by the European Commission (2023).

Analizele compoziției metalice a pieselor de harnașament și mărgelelor de argint de la Agighiol și comparația lor cu monedele histriene de argint de la Capul Dolojman [PDF]

open access: yesPeuce, 2019
The X-ray fluorescence analyses of 19 harnesses pieces and 13 beads from Agighiol show that they were made from silver, gold and copper; some items include copper to strengthen the alloy and some phalerae were gilded and contain more gold in the protome.

A Middle Triassic Cassian‐type fauna (Pelsa‐Vazzoler Lagerstätte) and the adaptive radiation of the Modern evolutionary fauna

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, Volume 10, Issue 4, July/August 2024.
Abstract We describe a high‐diversity silicified assemblage of marine molluscs (Pelsa‐Vazzoler Lagerstätte) from the upper Ladinian of the Agordo Dolomites (northeastern Italy). New data on the Triassic rebound, after the end‐Permian mass extinction, constrain it to an interval of relatively stable climatic conditions.

Invertebrate communities from the mesovoid shallow substratum of the Carpatho-Euxinic area

open access: yesTravaux de l'Institut de Speologie Emile Racovitza, 2010
Between 1998 and 2008, the authors analyzed from a faunistic and zoogeographic point of view, 5 sites with different types of mesovoid shallow subtratum (MSS) from the karst areas of Dobrogea and the Carpathians.

Resolving the Interpretation of Magnetic Coercivity Components From Backfield Isothermal Remanence Curves Using Unmixing of Non‐Linear Preisach Maps: Application to Loess‐Paleosol Sequences

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 129, Issue 6, June 2024.
Abstract Unmixing of remanent magnetization curves, either isothermal remanent magnetization (IRM) or backfield IRM, is widely used in rock magnetic and environmental magnetic studies to discriminate between magnetic coercivity components of different origins. However, the wide range of physical properties of natural magnetic particles gives rise to an

Role of bottom water chemistry in the formation of fibrous magnesium calcite at methane seeps in the Black Sea

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 71, Issue 4, Page 1193-1213, June 2024.
ABSTRACT Climate change poses a significant challenge for life on Earth. Different climate modes have been shown to come along with changes of the magnesium/calcium (Mg/Ca) ratio of seawater, and such changes are believed to control the primary mineral phase of marine authigenic carbonates.
