Document Image Quality Assessment Based on Texture Similarity Index [PDF]
International audienceIn this paper, a full reference document image quality assessment (FR DIQA) method using texture features is proposed. Local binary patterns (LBP) as texture features are extracted at the local and global levels for each image.

The mycobacterial CIII‐CIV respiratory supercomplex is an obligate assembly, encompassing several subunits of unknown functions. We have characterized the intracellular subunit AscF, and show that it is unlikely to be a sensor for metals or nucleotides, but is required for growth on nonfermentable energy sources, and likely works as an adapter for ...

A model guided document image analysis scheme [PDF]
This paper presents U new model based document image segmentation scheme that uses XML-DTDs (extensible Mark-up Language-Document Type Definition). Given a document image, the algorithm has the ability to select the appropriate model. A new wavelet based

Using content based image retrieval techniques for the indexing and retrieval of Thai handwritten documents [PDF]
This paper proposes the use of content base image retrieval (CBIR) techniques for indexing and retrieval of handwritten documents in Thai language. Issues associated with Thai handwritten documents are the lack of spacing between words, multi-level ...

Identification of the plant mitochondrial OrfX protein: A mass spectrometry approach
The mitochondrial genome of plants contains an open reading frame, orfx, which encodes a rare protein that has so far escaped mass spectrometric detection. The protein resembles the c‐subunit of bacterial twin‐arginine‐motif‐dependent protein translocases (TatC).

A Linear-Algebraic Technique with an Application in Semantic Image Retrieval [PDF]
This paper presents a novel technique for learning the underlying structure that links visual observations with semantics. The technique, inspired by a text-retrieval technique known as cross-language latent semantic indexing uses linear algebra to learn

Feature Approach for Printed Document Image Analysis [PDF]
This paper presents advances in zone classification for printed document image analysis. It firstly introduces entropic heuristic for text separation problem. Then a brief recall on existing texture and geometric discriminant parameters proposed in a previous research is done.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
