Orchestrating document-based workflows with X-Folders

Proceedings of the 2004 ACM symposium on Applied computing, 2004
This paper introduces X-Folders: a software environment for multi-party document-based processes that aims at supporting the implementation of workflow processes involving multiple users that interact by means of documents stored in special, reactive, folders. When the documents inside a folder reach a given state a task is triggered, tasks orchestrate

Efficient Authentication of Electronic Document Workflow

2005
In the history of document circulation, many participants may annotate and sign on the document so as to produce a final authentic document. This circulation process requires that a later participant can know the document circulation history, verify all the previous annotations, but can not modify them. To be applicable to devices of limited resources,

Deriving document workflows from feature models

Proceedings of the 2012 ACM symposium on Document engineering, 2012
Despite the increasing interest in the Document Engineering community, a formal definition of document workflow is still to come. Often, the term refers to an abstract process consisting in a set of tasks to contribute to some document contents, and some techniques are being developed to support parts of these tasks rather than how to generate the ...

Document workflow: modelling and issues for the non-savvy

International Journal of Information and Communication Technology, 2010
Contemporary organisations are governed by a multitude of documents, information and data crucial for the efficient and smooth running of operations. This paper presents a concise review of the modules which comprise such a system in terms of modelling and flow of documents from a simple overview to a more elaborate making use of the new web-based ...

WorkMail: Collaborative Document Workflow Management by Email

2012
Processing documents is a critical and crucial aspect for enterprises. The management of documents involves several people and can be a long and time-wasting process. We developed a document workflow engine based on email paradigm. Exploiting a web application, the subject of the workflow, the document, can be sent as an email attachment.

Workflows in Cancer Treatment and their Influence upon Clinical Documentation

2013
To establish single source cancer documentation for a complete comprehensive cancer center CCC we performed a systematic analysis of diagnostic, therapeutic and documentation workflows for 13 cancer entities. Results suggest that we will need three types of clinical documentation to cover all cancer entities of the Erlangen CCC.

SGML nets: integrating document and workflow modeling

Proceedings of the Thirty-First Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2002
We introduce so called SGML nets as a new formalism for an integrated modeling of document structures as well as document manipulation processes. SGML nets are a variant of high level Petri nets where each place (passive element "document store") is typed using an SGML document type definition (DTD).
