Ensemble Learning-based Brain Stroke Prediction Model Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Brain stroke (BS) imposes a substantial burden on healthcare systems due to the long-term care and high expenditure. Earlier detection and intervention can reduce the impact of BS.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Disillusioned compromise of substitute care: A critical point for the ‘future’ in child welfare
The article examines how the future is anticipated and integrated in the statutory decision-making of care orders, and how disagreements between the social worker and the parents and/or child are portrayed when decisions about the future of the child are

MEMOFinder: combining _de_ _novo_ motif prediction methods with a database of known motifs [PDF]
*Background:* Methods for finding overrepresented sequence motifs are useful in several key areas of computational biology. They aim at detecting very weak signals responsible for biological processes requiring robust sequence identification like ...

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

An Enhanced LightGBM-Based Breast Cancer Detection Technique Using Mammography Images
Breast cancer (BC) is the leading cause of mortality among women across the world. Earlier screening of BC can significantly reduce the mortality rate and assist the diagnostic process to increase the survival rate.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
