Comparison of the efficiency of some of the most usual DNA extraction methods for woody plants in different tissues of Vitis vinifera L.

open access: yesOENO One, 2013
Aim: To compare different methods for extracting DNA from non-recalcitrant and recalcitrant tissues of Vitis vinifera woody plants and propose a modification of a previously published method to reduce the time and cost of extraction. Methods and results:

Spontaneous vesicle formation in catanionic mixtures of amino acid-based surfactants: Chain length symmetry effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The use of amino acids for the synthesis of novel surfactants with vesicle-forming properties potentially enhances the biocompatibility levels needed for a viable alternative to conventional lipid vesicles.

Surfactant‐mediated electro‐dewetting of droplets in oil for liquid‐shape manipulation

open access: yesDroplet, Volume 4, Issue 4, October 2025.
Surfactant‐mediated electro‐dewetting has recently been demonstrated to manipulate droplets in air for digital microfluidics. The current work explores electro‐dewetting of droplets in oil for liquid‐shape manipulation. Contact‐angle change of 100° is obtained for electro‐dewetting of a dimethyl sulfoxide droplet in hexadecane oil with mere 4 V.

An Interaction of Anionic- and Cationic-Rich Mixed Surfactants in Aqueous Medium through Physicochemical Properties at Three Different Temperatures

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2018
The mixed micellization of aqueous binary mixtures of DTAB-rich and SDS-rich surfactants, comprising sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) is studied in aqueous solution by using the physicochemical properties (PCPs) at

A Rapid and Inexpensive Method for the Purification of DNA from Lichens and their Symbionts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A simple DNA extraction method is described, applicable to many different kinds of lichens. The method involves the use of the detergents DTAB and CTAB and yields DNA that can be directly amplified with the polymerase chain reaction or digested with ...

A Direct and Practical Approach to Assessing the Impact of Emulsion Composition on Vitamin A Stability

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, Volume 102, Issue 9, Page 1425-1437, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Vitamin A is an essential micronutrient involved in vision, immunity, and growth. Despite its widespread use in food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical products, vitamin A is highly prone to oxidation due to its conjugated double bonds, leading to reduced biological activity and efficacy.

Fabrication of chitosan based nanofibers by electrospinning and their characterisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Electrospinning is used to produce fibers in the nanometer range by stretching a polymeric jet using electric field of high magnitude. Electrospinning leads to the formation of continuous fibers ranging from 0.01 to 10 ìm . The ultra-fine fibers produced

CytroCell@PIL: A New Citrus Nanocellulose‐Polymeric Ionic Liquid Composite for Enhanced Anion Exchange Membranes

open access: yesNano Select, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2025.
CytroCell@PIL, a composite membrane obtained combining the submicron fibers of CytroCell cellulose at 1 wt% load with polymerizable ionic liquid (triethyl(4‐vinylbenzyl)phosphonium tetrafluoroborate), shows high stability in concentrated alkaline solution, good ionic conductivity, and enhanced mechanical strength.

Contactless Conductivity Detection for Capillary Electrophoresis—Developments From 2020 to 2024

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, Volume 46, Issue 13-14, Page 829-862, July 2025.
ABSTRACT The review covering the development of capillary electrophoresis with capacitively coupled contactless conductivity detection from 2020 to 2024 is the latest in a series going back to 2004. The article considers applications employing conventional capillaries and planar lab‐on‐chip devices as well as fundamental and technical developments of ...
