New Perspectives on Semiconducting Conjugated Oligomers for Neuromodulation in Hydra vulgaris

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Semiconducting organic compounds, thiophene‐based, modify the rhythmic electrical activity of the cnidarian Hydra vulgaris acting on specific neuronal circuits. The ETE‐S trimer also forms electronically conducting wires in the living tissues of the animal.

Boosting the Transparency of Metallic SrNbO3 Through Ti Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Transparent conductors are optoelectronic devices of high demand. The present study presents a path on how to boost the figure of merit of the recently proposed perovskite oxides: Ti doping reduces electronic correlations and thus the absorption above the plasma frequency, while keeping the plasma frequency below the visible range.

Adsorption Dynamics and Electric Double Layer Properties at Pt(100) Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Atomic‐scale structures at the Pt(100) interface are investigated using advanced experimental techniques and density functional theory. The coverage and arrangement of hydrogen and hydroxide evolve with potential (V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE), revealing the optimal interface coverage. Color legend: H: white, O: red.
