Detrital dolomite: characterization and characteristics

open access: yes, 2018
Investigating dolomite fragments derived from pre-existing dolomite-containing sediments or rocks, that is detrital dolomites, constitutes a challenge in carbonate sedimentology.

A Newly Discovered Tablet‐Making Facility in Nineveh: Insights From Scientific Analysis

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper addresses the question of tablet technology in the Neo‐Assyrian capital city of Nineveh. Recent excavations in the lower town of Nineveh by the Iraqi–Italian Archaeological Expedition uncovered an exceptional assemblage of more than 200 tablets from an elite residence that appears to have included a scriptorium.

Development of CCMb: A Low‐Mg Calcite Reference Material for In Situ Measurement of δ18O, δ13C and Selected Trace Elements

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Low‐Mg calcite RM developed for in situ microanalysis applications in palaeoclimatology (δ18O, δ13C; Mg, Sr m/m). New data for calcite CRM IAEA‐603 (δ18O, δ13C by SIMS and GS‐IRMS; Mg m/m). No detectable IMF effect of Mg on SIMS δ18O determinations for mass fractions < 3650 μg g‐1.

Survey of the diagenesis process and effect these process on reservoir quality of the Kangan formation in South Pars Field

open access: yes, 2009
Kangan and Upper Dalan formations are forming reservoir sequence of the South Pars field. Litology of the kangan formation is carbonate and (limestone and dolomite with anhydrite intervals), so digenetic processes were very active in this formation and ...

Enhancing Recharge in the Edwards Aquifer, Texas: Measures, Outcomes, and Lessons for Karst Aquifers

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Abstract Managed aquifer recharge is a widely adopted method that involves storing excess water underground for future use. While managed aquifer recharge has been applied globally to different aquifer types, its use in karst aquifers is less common due to the unique hydrogeological characteristics of these systems, including high permeability ...

Dolomite in caves: Recent dolomite formation in oxic, non-sulfate environments. Castañar Cave, Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Dolomite is a common mineral in the rock record but rare in recent superficial environments. Where it does occur, it is related to anoxic, sulfate-rich environments and microbial activity.
