Structurally controlled hydrothermal dolomite reservoir facies: An overview: Discussion

AAPG Bulletin, 2007
One of the issues of the AAPG Bulletin (v. 90, no. 11) was concerned with “hydrothermal dolomite reservoirs,” specifically “hydrothermal dolomite fields” (Davies and Smith, 2006). The term “hydrothermal dolomite” is confusing and meaningless (Machel and Lonnee, 2002). To study the origin of dolomite and its hydrothermal depositional setting, I examined

Reservoir properties of the Raminger Dolomite

This thesis characterizes the reservoir properties of Middle Triassic dolostomite to evaluate its potential for deep geothermal use, dolomites belong to the Raming Formation of the Göller Nappe exposed on the Hoher Lindkogel near Baden. The analysed outcrops are regarded analogues of hydrothermal reservoirs in the adjacent Vienna Basin.

Diagenetic history and reservoir characteristics of a Middle Carboniferous dolomite reservoir, eastern Sichuan, China

Sedimentary Geology, 1986
Abstract Reservoirs of commercial gasfields in eastern Sichuan, China, occur in Middle Carboniferous dolomite. Porous reservoir rocks in this dolomite are bounded by an upper disconformity and were deposited in tidal flats. Two types of diagenetic histories are suggested.

Devonian Dolomitized Reef, D3 Reservoir, Leduc Field, Alberta, Canada

AAPG Bulletin, 1950
The general location, structure, and stratigraphy of the Leduc field are given in brief. The D3 reservoir, a dolomitized Upper Devonian reef which is the lowest producing zone, is discussed in detail. A determination of the volume and inter-relationship of the various types of void space within the reef is presented. The methods used to obtain the data

A Proven Squeeze-Cementing Technique in a Dolomite Reservoir

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1969
Data on squeezed injection wells in a Grayburg-San Andres reservoir of West Texas indicate that a high final standing pressure is not a prerequisite for a successful squeeze. Profiles made a year after repair indicate that the wells have maintained the desired injectivity profile despite continued injection at fracturing pressure.
