Mathematical analysis of robustness of two-level domain decomposition methods with respect to inexact coarse solves [PDF]

open access: greenNumerische Mathematik, 2020
Convergence of domain decomposition methods rely heavily on the efficiency of the coarse space used in the second level. The GenEO coarse space has been shown to lead to a fully robust two-level Schwarz preconditioner which scales well over multiple cores [27, 19] as has been proved rigorously in [27].

Mathematical analysis of planar crystals grown from vapor in bounded domains

open access: green, 2014
The quasi-static evolution of planar crystals grown from supersaturation or dilute solutions are studied. A crystal is assumed to be an m-gon at all time, but not necessarily convex, in a domain with smooth boundary. The equations are of Stefan type coupled with the Gibbs-Thomson relation. We show local in time existence of solutions.

A meta-analysis of mathematics and working memory: Moderating effects of working memory domain, type of mathematics skill, and sample characteristics.

open access: hybridJournal of Educational Psychology, 2015
The purpose of this meta-analysis was to determine the relation between mathematics and working memory (WM) and to identify possible moderators of this relation including domains of WM, types of mathematics skills, and sample type. A meta-analysis of 110 studies with 829 effect sizes found a significant medium correlation of mathematics and WM, r = .35,

Mathematical analysis of superconductivity in a domain with corners: semi-classical and numerical methods

open access: green, 2003

Integrated representation for discrete Fourier and wavelet transforms using vector notation

open access: yesMehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology, 2022
Many mathematical operations are implemented easily through transform domain operations. Multiple transform domain operations are used independently in large and complex applications.

Predicting Math Ability Using Working Memory, Number Sense, and Neurophysiology in Children and Adults

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2022
Previous work has shown relations between domain-general processes, domain-specific processes, and mathematical ability. However, the underlying neurophysiological effects of mathematical ability are less clear.

Children’s Picture Books: A Systematic Analysis of Features in the Domain of Mathematics

open access: yesEarly Education and Development, 2022
Shared-picture book reading can stimulate children’s mathematical development. Evidence of learning-supportive characteristics in picture books is limited in this domain. A first step is systematically analyzing the occurrence of domain-specific features in publicly available picture books.
