Topology and Material Optimization in Ultra‐Soft Magneto‐Active Structures: Making Advantage of Residual Anisotropies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Residual magnetization induces pronounced mechanical anisotropy in ultra‐soft magnetorheological elastomers, shaping deformation and actuation even without external magnetic fields. This study introduces a computational‐experimental framework integrating magneto‐mechanical coupling into topology optimization for designing soft magnetic actuators with ...

RAMUS: Printable, Mechanically‐Tunable and Biodegradable Cellulose‐Mediated Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Ramus, a Latin term meaning “branch,” develops large‐scale, ambient conditions additively manufactured, and biodegradable cellulose‐based biomaterial composites able to mediate their structural capacity from micro to macroscale. Abstract Ramus develops large‐scale, ambient conditions additively manufactured, and biodegradable cellulose‐based ...

Centrifugation Theory Revisited: Understanding and Modeling the Centrifugation of 2D Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Colloidal dispersions of nanomaterials are often size‐selected by centrifugation, for anisotropic particle shapes in trial and error. This paper describes the derivation of an equation of motion for 2D objects. The model is validated using different nanosheets produced from liquid phase exfoliation and can be used to predict the average nanosheet sizes

Effect of Electric Field on Growth Kinetics, Morphology and Wettability of Flame‐Deposited Carbon Nanoparticle Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A novel electric field‐assisted thermophoretic flame synthesis process enables rapid deposition of carbon nanoparticle films with tunable wettability. Applying a negative voltage during flame exposure accelerates growth, increases surface roughness, and alters morphology.
