Implementation of the Domain Name System
Proceedings of the 2nd workshop on Making distributed systems work - EW 2, 1986The Domain Name System, DNS, is a distributed database and associated protocols that provides naming and data retrieval services for the DARPA Internet. Origins of the Domain Name System
IEEE Annals of the History of Computing, 2019The Domain Name System (DNS) was the major milestone in the Internet between the advent of the IP/TCP, internet, and the web. Any Internet user gets a glimpse of it every time they see a URL. What is perhaps less realized is how much the creation of the DNS enabled development and evolution of the Internet and Internet applications such as the World ...

Characterization of the dynamics and interactions of domain names and name server
2013 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS), 2013In this work, we look at name server switching of domains, with the potential abuse and security as the motivation to understanding name server dynamics. We use the evolution of name servers to build an identifier for domains that can be used to group domains of similar behavior.

On name-based inter-domain routing
Computer Networks, 2011Locating objects with topology-independent identifiers has emerged as a key functionality in recent content networking approaches. Numerous designs have been proposed to address the obvious scalability and efficiency challenges such systems face in Internet-scale deployments.
