Thesaurus and Domain Ontology of Geoinformatics
Transactions in GIS, 2007AbstractGeoinformatics is a comparatively new interdisciplinary science and as a part of space informatics uses methods and terminology of informatics and many natural sciences. An ontology of geoinformatics is discussed in the paper, especially concerning its structure, relationships with other ontologies, resources for development and utilization ...

Domain adaptation for ontology localization
Journal of Web Semantics, 2016Ontology localization is the task of adapting an ontology to a different cultural context, and has been identified as an important task in the context of the Multilingual Semantic Web vision. The key task in ontology localization is translating the lexical layer of an ontology, i.e., its labels, into some foreign language. For this task, we hypothesise

Requirements Recovery by Matching Domain Ontology and Program Ontology
2011 IEEE 35th Annual Computer Software and Applications Conference, 2011Users and systems requirements are fundamental for software development and maintenance. However, for most of existing systems, you may only find design documents without requirement specification. This paper presents an ontology-based reengineering approach to recovering requirements from existing systems.

In conceptual modeling we need to consider a general level of abstraction where the domain of interest is formalized in an independent way with respect to the specific application for which the conceptual modeling process is performed. This leads to an integrated approach that takes into account knowledge about a domain and metaknowledge about a ...

A Unified Ontology for the Virtualization Domain
2011This paper presents an ontology of virtual appliances and networks along with an ontology-based approach for the automatic assessment of a virtualized computer network configuration. The ontology is inspired by the Libvirt XML format, based on the formal logic structures provided by the OWL language and enriched with logic rules expressed in SWRL.

Ontology construction for technical domains
1996An important recent idea to facilitate knowledge sharing is to provide libraries of reusable components (models, ontologies) to end users. However, when libraries become large, finding the right library components is a knowledge demanding task in itself.

Ontologies for the Real Property Domain
Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Web Intelligence, Mining and Semantics, 2018Real property, also known as real estate, realty or immovable property, is one of the most important assets for the world economy. Real property data is valuable input for decision makers in various domains. Real property data has temporal and spatial characteristics and is distributed across multiple systems.

Domain Ontology Management Environment
Proceedings of the 33rd Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2005Service-oriented business-to-business e-commerce requires dynamic and open interoperable information systems. Although most large organisations have information regarding products, services and customers stored in databases, and XML/DTD allows these to be published over the Internet, sharing information among these systems has been prevented by ...

In computer science, ontologies were originally used in artificial intelligence in order to share knowledge among applications. Nowadays ontologies are used in many different fields of information systems. Our goal is to give an overview of the different types of ontologies and their use in these applications.
