A gene expression atlas of the domestic pig [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2012
This work describes the first genome-wide analysis of the transcriptional landscape of the pig. A new porcine Affymetrix expression array was designed in order to provide comprehensive coverage of the known pig transcriptome. The new array was used to generate a genome-wide expression atlas of pig tissues derived from 62 tissue/cell types.

Myocardial bridges in domestic pig - morphological aspects

open access: yesPolish Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2011
Myocardial bridges in domestic pig - morphological aspectsThe morphology of myocardial bridges (MB) in the heart of the domestic pig remain an open issue. Despite numerous analyses of the subject, many controversies still exist. Opinions also differ when the influence of the MB on haemodynamic processes in the coronal vessel system is concerned. In the

Distribution of myocardial bridges in domestic pig

open access: yesPolish Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2010
Localisation and morphology of myocardial bridges in the heart of domestic pig remain an open issue. Since these structures significantly influence haemodynamics in the coronary arteries, their occurance may lead to numerous pathologies. In the examined group of 150 domestic pig's hearts, myocardial bridges were diagnosed in 47.3% of the material ...

Does the Domestication Syndrome Apply to the Domestic Pig? Not Completely. [PDF]

open access: yesAnimals (Basel), 2022
The ‘domestication syndrome’ defines a suite of features that domesticated animals possess as the result of the artificial selection operated by Homo sapiens since the Neolithic. An interesting anthropological question is whether such features, including increased tameness and reduced aggression, apply to all domesticated forms.

Linkage Disequilibrium in the Domesticated Pig [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 2004
Abstract This study investigated the extent of linkage disequilibrium (LD) in two genomic regions (on chromosomes 4 and 7) in five populations of domesticated pigs. LD was measured with D′ and tested for significance with the Fisher exact test.

Risk Factor Impact on African Swine Fever Transmission in Different Extensive Pig Production Settings in Serbia

open access: yesViruses, 2023
The first case of ASF in a domestic pig population in Serbia was confirmed in 2019 in a backyard population. Today, outbreaks in wild boar and, more importantly, in domestic pigs are still occurring, although the government measures for ASF prevention ...

With or without a Vaccine—A Review of Complementary and Alternative Approaches to Managing African Swine Fever in Resource-Constrained Smallholder Settings

open access: yesVaccines, 2021
The spectacular recent spread of African swine fever (ASF) in Eastern Europe and Asia has been strongly associated, as it is in the endemic areas in Africa, with free-ranging pig populations and low-biosecurity backyard pig farming.

Morphogenesis lymph node of domestic pig [PDF]

open access: yesНауковий вісник ветеринарної медицини, 2020
The visceral and somatic lymph nodes of a pig of domestic 1-120 day old were examined. Found that the lymph nodes have a common connective tissue capsule and diff erent levels of fusion of individual subunits.

Pharmacokinetics of artesunate in the domestic pig [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 2008
The aim was to study the pharmacokinetic profile of artesunate and its metabolite dihydroartemisinin (DHA) in a pig model.Thirteen pigs received either intravenous (iv) or intramuscular (im) artesunate (60 mg), with the alternative preparation given 24 h later in an open crossover design.
