Aquatic Bacterial Community Responses to Aquatic Contaminants Revealed by 16S rRNA Metabarcoding in Field‐Based Microcosms

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study used sedimentary eDNA analysis and field‐based microcosms to assess the impacts of three major aquatic contaminants on bacterial assemblage structure. Our results showed significant but varied impact depending on exposure to which contaminant; we suggest five phyla, 13 families, and three species as potential bacterial bioindicators and ...

Phytosphere purification of urban domestic wastewater

Environmental Pollution, 2023
Industrialization and overpopulation have polluted aquatic environments with significant impacts on human health and wildlife. The main pollutants in urban sewage are nitrogen, phosphorus, heavy metals and organic pollutants, which need to be treated with sewage, and the use of aquatic plants to purify wastewater has high efficiency and low cost ...

Concrete Sustainable Buildings Using Domestic Wastewater Treated

Materials Science Forum, 2022
During recent years, the rapid growth of the population in urban areas has promoted the development of housing, roads, shopping centres and industries; having increased the consumption of tap water in the concrete industry. A solution to this problem, is to use domestic wastewater treated, due to the large quantities produced and the need to include ...

Domestic Wastewater for Climate Mitigation

2021
Thailand intends to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 20–25% in the year 2030. The wastewater sector can make a significant contribution to climate change mitigation: better wastewater management can lead to reduction of GHG emissions produced from its treatment process, i.e., carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen oxide in addition to applying ...

Characterization and assessment of “Kullar Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant” wastewaters

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2007
We investigated conventional characterization of wastewaters of the "Kullar Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant." In the study of conventional characterization; 23 composite samples, which were taken during 10 months, were used and analysed as COD, BOD5, TKN, NH3-N, SS, VSS, TP, RP, TS, Alkalinity, oil and grease, detergent, chloride parameters.

Microfiltration treatment of domestic wastewater

Journal of Water Chemistry and Technology, 2017
The microfiltration of domestic wastewater on tubular microfilters based on clay minerals and oxide ceramics has been studied. The mechanism of the process according to which microfiltration is performed with consistent transition from filtering with gradual clogging of each pore by many particles to filtering with formation of sediment on the ...

At-source domestic wastewater quality

Urban Water, 1999
Abstract Accurate measurement of flow and quality determinands for single or small numbers of dwellings is difficult due to the intermittent nature of flows at source. In this paper, at-source pollutographs are calculated using an alternative approach based on survey data of domestic appliance usage together with measured flow and loads per use.

Sustainable treatment of domestic wastewater through microalgae

International Journal of Phytoremediation, 2020
The present work evaluated the optimum concentration of microalgal cells for domestic wastewater treatment in terms of removal in nutrients and physicochemical parameters. In the study, three different concentrations (20, 30, and 40%) of microalgae was considered at 8 hours and 24 hours of Hydraulic Retention time (HRT).
