Why Do We Need Bankfull and Dominant Discharges?

2015
Within scientific hydrological, geomorphological and also engineering literature the two discharges that very often demand attention of hydrologists as well as ecologists and river engineers and water catchment managers are, respectively, the dominant and bankfull discharges. What are they? Do we really need them and why? The present paper explains the

Identifying the Dominant Discharge Based on Coefficient Frequency of Discharge and Sediment in the Lower Yellow River

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
On the basis of analyzing and evaluating the determining methods of dominant discharge, a drawback is pointed about four common methods. A new method to determine the dominant discharge is presented in this paper, which is appropriate to the Lower Yellow River.

Temporal and constriction behavior of low-pressure, cathode-dominated argon discharges

Physical Review E, 1997
Measurements of quasi-steady-state voltage-current characteristics, low-current voltage and current oscillations, and constriction formation are reported for cathode-dominated discharges in low-pressure Ar. Pulsed discharges ({approximately}5ms long at 1{endash}3 Hz) reduce heating and improve the accuracy of differential voltage measurements.
