Heat Advection During Exhumation Can Explain High Temperatures Along the Subduction Plate Interface

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract The pressure–temperature (P−T) $(P-T)$ evolution of subduction zone plate interfaces governs metamorphism, fluid migration, deformation, and seismicity. Temperature estimates from natural rocks are frequently higher than those predicted by subduction models, particularly for P< $P< $ 2.5 GPa.

Non‐Stationarity of the Spatial Footprints of Storm Surges

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Storm surges can cause extreme coastal flooding across large and sometimes geographically disconnected areas. Understanding their spatial footprints is essential for effective risk assessment and emergency planning. Previous studies have delineated the spatial footprints of extreme storm surges at global and regional scales, assuming that they

Archipelagic Habitat Use by the Black Wood Pigeon

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 2, March 2026.
Satellite tracking of Black Wood Pigeons in the Izu Islands (2022–2025) revealed frequent interisland movements, with flights ranging from 4 to 170 km. Many individuals dispersed among islands after breeding and returned the following spring, indicating partial migratory or nomadic behavior at the archipelagic scale.
