Predation pressure on sentinel prey does not necessarily diminish with advancing urbanization. [PDF]
Using artificial caterpillars as sentinels, we documented the predatory activity of arthropods, birds, and small mammals. Predator activity was highest during the summer and unexpectedly, significantly higher in urban than rural forest fragments. This may have been caused by hungrier predators, predator release, or safer urban habitat.
