Reciprocal synapses between mushroom body and dopamine neurons form a positive feedback loop required for learning

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Current thought envisions dopamine neurons conveying the reinforcing effect of the unconditioned stimulus during associative learning to the axons of Drosophila mushroom body Kenyon cells for normal olfactory learning.

Immunolocalization of kappa opioid receptors in the axon initial segment of a group of embryonic mesencephalic dopamine neurons

open access: yesIBRO Neuroscience Reports, 2022
The dopamine mesolimbic system is a major circuit involved in controlling goal-directed behaviors. Dopamine D2 receptors (D2R) and kappa opioid receptors (KOR) are abundant Gi protein-coupled receptors in the mesolimbic system.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Role of D1/D2 dopamin receptors antagonist perphenazine in morphine analgesia and tolerance in rats

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine, 2013
While opioid receptors have been implicated in the development of tolerance, the subsequent mechanisms involved in these phenomena have not been completely understood.

Endogenous Dopamine and Endocannabinoid Signaling Mediate Cocaine-Induced Reversal of AMPAR Synaptic Potentiation in the Nucleus Accumbens Shell [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Repeated exposure to drugs of abuse alters the structure and function of neural circuits mediating reward, generating maladaptive plasticity in circuits critical for motivated behavior.

Neurobiological Mechanisms That Contribute to Stress-related Cocaine Use [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The ability of stressful life events to trigger drug use is particularly problematic for the management of cocaine addiction due to the unpredictable and often uncontrollable nature of stress.

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Dopaminergic activation of estrogen receptors induces fos expression within restricted regions of the neonatal female rat brain. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
Steroid receptor activation in the developing brain influences a variety of cellular processes that endure into adulthood, altering both behavior and physiology.

Dopamine D_2-receptor activation elicits akinesia, rigidity, catalepsy, and tremor in mice expressing hypersensitive 4 nicotinic receptors via a cholinergic-dependent mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent studies suggest that high-affinity neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) containing α4 and β2 subunits (α4β2*) functionally interact with G-protein-coupled dopamine (DA) D_2 receptors in basal ganglia.
