Doppler Gyroscopes: Frequency vs Phase Estimation

Physical Review Letters, 2022
We consider the fundamental roles of frequency versus phase in parameter estimation, specifically in the Sagnac effect. We describe a novel, ultrasensitive gyroscope based on the extremely steep frequency-dependent gain of a liquid crystal light valve.

Frequency modulated ultrasonic Doppler flowmeter

Medical & Biological Engineering, 1975
A new ultrasonic Doppler flowmeter based on the concept of a frequency-modulated wave rather than a continuous single frequency is described. Results are presented showing that the flowmeter can accurately measure vessel diameter and range, volume flow remote from the probe, and flow direction, and can, by tracking the probe along the vessel, visualise

Dual beat-frequencies laser Doppler interferometer

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2011
A dual beat-frequencies laser Doppler interferometer which can measure high speed back and forth motion is proposed and demonstrated. In this interferometer, the two frequencies, f1 and f2, emitted by a Zeeman laser are introduced into the signal beams.

Pulsed Doppler frequency and carotid stenosis

Journal of Surgical Research, 1987
Two hundred and forty-two internal carotid arteries (ICA) were evaluated by independently interpreted arteriography and pulsed Doppler spectrum analysis using ultrasonic arteriography to evaluate the ability of peak systolic frequency (PSF) to predict the degree of internal carotid stenosis.

Very high frequency pulsed doppler apparatus

Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 1989
A study of a method for exploration of microvessels is presented. Theoretical considerations taking into account the backscattering of ultrasound wave from a red cell and the attenuation versus frequency (up to 180 MHz) show that a frequency in the range of 80 to 120 MHz is most favorable for small depths of exploration (300 microns).

Doppler frequency estimator performance analysis

International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2002
A novel realistic model for Doppler signals is investigated. The intended application is the accurate estimation of a train's speed using an onboard Doppler radar. The signal is shown to be conveniently modeled by a sine wave amplitude modulated by an autoregressive process.
