A compact general-purpose Doppler Lidar for lidar networks
2023We present the state of the VAHCOLI (Vertical and Horizontal COverage by Lidar) project for investigating small- to large-scale processes in the atmosphere. In the future, an array of compact lidars with multiple fields of view will allow for measurements of temperatures, winds and aerosols with high temporal and vertical resolution.Doppler lidars, in ...

Coherent Doppler Lidar Edge Technique
Coherent Laser Radar, 1995With a coherent Doppler lidar one can measure both, the aerosol and the velocity profile. For direct detection the edge technique was proposed (Korb et al. 1994) to get information on the velocity too.

Pulsed Doppler lidar at QinetiQ
SPIE Proceedings, 2004Recent developments in pulsed Doppler lidar technology for range-resolved aerosol and hard-target imaging applications are presented. Systems based upon CO2 and fiber-optic technologies at wavelengths of 10.6 μm and 1.5 μm respectively are described.

Mission profiles for the proposed Doppler lidar WIND
Coherent Laser Radar: Technology and Applications, 1991During phase A of the development of the airborne pulsed CO2 laser-Doppler system WIND [1] a lot of scientific objectives were studied. The intension for the airborne system is — to use it for wind field measurements— to use the experience during the development and test phase for further development of a spaccborne lidar.

Vertical wind velocity measurements by a Doppler lidar and comparisons with a Doppler sodar
Applied Optics, 1981A Doppler lidar based on a single frequency Ar(+) laser and a spherical Fabry-Perot interferometer is used to study the vertical velocity field in the planetary boundary layer. The wind velocity information is obtained by spectral analysis of the aerosol backscatter.

Autodyne Coherent Doppler Lidars
Coherent Laser Radar: Technology and Applications, 1991Autodyne coherent lidars, i.e., the lidars with intracavity reception of the echo-signals proved to be of efficient for studying the atmosphere1-3. They possess high sensitivity and high noise immunity. They make it possible to determine few parameters in question simultaneously, namely: the absorption along the path, the distance to the retroreflector

Comparative precision of distributed-backscatter Doppler lidars
Applied Optics, 1995Simple formulas for the standard deviation that is available from Doppler velocity estimators through the use of direct-detection frequency discriminators for targets spread in range are derived and contrasted with the fundamental limits provided by the Cramer-Rao bounds for both direct-detection and heterodyne systems. The structures of these formulas
