Doppler shift for a radar echo
American Journal of Physics, 1979The Doppler shift formula for a radar echo is derived without the use of transformation equations by considering the superposition of the incident and reflected waves. The results are then used as a basis for a discussion of the concepts of proper length and time as regards the transformation properties of wavelength and period in special relativity.

Doppler Radar Measurements of Turbulence
2016A first-principle analysis of Doppler radar measurements of turbulence is presented. A set of limited, though practical, conditions are assumed to make the problem more tractable, with the primary condition being the discrete and finite temporal sampling of the radar signals.

Doppler Radar Observations of Mammatus
Monthly Weather Review, 1995Abstract Observations of mammatus-like cloud features associated with a convective rain shower were obtained using a vertically pointing 8-mm-wavelength Doppler radar. The radar's excellent sensitivity and resolution allowed even very weak, finescale features of the cloud to be resolved.

Likewise, when a radar system illuminates a moving target that has a radial velocity component relative to the radar, the signal reflected from the target and received by the radar is also frequency shifted.
