Landfall Reorganizes Eyewall Boundary Layer Transport and Scale Coupling in Typhoon Hato (2017)
Abstract Landfall reorganizes the tropical cyclone eyewall boundary layer (BL) through elevated surface roughness and reduced enthalpy fluxes. Using a 100‐m resolution nested large‐eddy simulation of Typhoon Hato (2017), we compare eyewall BL structures before and during landfall.

Micro-Doppler Based Detection and Tracking of UAVs with Multistatic Radar [PDF]
This paper presents an approach for detection and tracking a micro-UAV using the multistatic radar NetRAD. Experimental trials were performed using NetRAD allowing for analysis of real data to assess the difficulty of detection and tracking of a micro ...

Observations of Electric Fields Sounding in the Mature Stage of a Thunderstorm
Successive electric field soundings separated by only 6 min provided a rare view of charge structure of a mature thunderstorm. The observations reveal horizontally inhomogeneous charge regions, an unusually deep upper negative layer, and charge features that cannot be readily explained by current thunderstorm electrification mechanisms. ABSTRACT In the

Aspect angle dependence of the E region irregularity velocity at large flow angles [PDF]
We present the Doppler velocity observations of 1-m plasma waves in the auroral E region by the Scandinavian Twin Auroral Radar Experiment (STARE) Norway VHF coherent radar in the context of simultaneous and coincident measurements of electron and ion ...

ABSTRACT The raindrop size distribution (DSD) plays an essential role in understanding rain attenuation effects at extremely high frequencies (EHFs). Over 1 year of DSD measurements was taken at different Köppen–Geiger climate classifications within the United States. Optical disdrometers from Thies Clima were used to measure both the size and velocity

Material Property Sensitivity of Light Curve Attitude Estimation for the Lunar Trailblazer
Abstract The Lunar Trailblazer (LTB) spacecraft launched on 27 February 2025, toward a planned low‐lunar orbit. Eleven hours into its mission, contact with Trailblazer was lost, and recovery efforts began. Estimating the orientation and angular velocity state of Trailblazer was central for recovery to determine whether and when the vehicle could be ...

Under the same principle, laser radar could be more sensitive to the micro-Doppler (m-D) effect due to its wave length, as the characteristic of multi-resolution, S transform could reduce the influence of the micro-Doppler component and enhance the ...

A polarimetric Doppler radar time‐series simulator for biological applications [PDF]
The high mobility of airborne organisms makes them inherently difficult to study, motivating the use of radars and radar networks as biological surveillance tools.
