What is Doppler ultrasound? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The term Doppler should be capitalized because it refers to Christian Johann Doppler, an Austrian physicist (1803–1853). He described a phenomenon whereby the frequency of sound changes when it is reflected off a moving object.

Amyloid β Instigates Cardiac Neurotrophic Signaling Impairment, Driving Alzheimer's Associated Heart Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This research identified cardiac amyloid pathology, neurotrophic factor depletion, and reduced myocardial nerve function in a transgenic model of cerebral amyloidosis (Tg2576), Aβ‐challenged cardiomyocytes, and in human AD heart tissue. These findings carry significant diagnostic and therapeutic implications, emphasizing the role of neuro‐signaling ...

Doppler frequency analysis for sound-field sampling with moving microphones

open access: yesFrontiers in Signal Processing
Moving microphones allow for the fast acquisition of sound-field data that encode acoustic impulse responses in time-invariant environments. Corresponding decoding algorithms use the knowledge of instantaneous microphone positions for relating the ...

Christian andreas doppler

open access: yesJournal of the Practice of Cardiovascular Sciences, 2019
CA Doppler described the doppler effect which was a shift in the frequency of light. This theory was later used for multiple applications in electromagnetics, astronomy, physics, aviation and health sciences.

Bioabsorbable Endovascular Adhesive Tape (BEAT) for Improving Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioabsorbable endovascular adhesive tape (BEAT) platform based on a hierarchical polyelectrolyte complex is developed to enhance drug delivery in the DCB system. The coating enables rapid transfer to the vessel, provides short‐term mechanical support, and promotes both immediate transfer and long‐term retention of drugs at the lesion site.

An Underwater Localization Algorithm for Airborne Moving Sound Sources Using Doppler Warping Transform

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
When an airborne sound source is in rapid motion, the acoustic signal detected by the underwater sensor experiences a substantial Doppler shift. This shift is intricately linked to the motion parameters of the sound source.

Resolving Spacecraft Earth-Flyby Anomalies with Measured Light Speed Anisotropy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Doppler shift observations of spacecraft, such as Galileo, NEAR, Cassini, Rosetta and MESSENGER in earth flybys, have all revealed unexplained speed `anomalies' - that the doppler-shift determined speeds are inconsistent with expected speeds.

A Soft Robotic Model for Simulating Heart Valve Disease and Cardiac Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a fully synthetic fabrication methodology for a soft robotic, in‐vitro model of the left‐heart, complete with a functioning mitral valve apparatus. With a view towards patient‐specific modeling, we demonstrate physiological flow and pressure waveforms, tunable mitral valve function with clinical imaging compatibility, and its use ...
