Observation of High Doppler Velocity Wings in the Nascent Wind of R Doradus [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Physics, 2020
We study the morpho-kinematics in the nascent wind of AGB star R Doradus in the light of high Doppler velocity wings observed in the spectral lines of several species. We probe distances from the star between ∼10 and ∼100 au using ALMA observations of the emission of five different molecular lines.

An evaluation of microphysics in a numerical model using Doppler velocity measured by ground-based radar for application to the EarthCARE satellite [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques
The Cloud Profiling Radar (CPR) of the Earth Cloud, Aerosol and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) has a new capability to observe the Doppler velocity related to the vertical air motion of the terminal velocity of hydrometeors.

Mispointing characterization and Doppler velocity correction for the conically scanning WIVERN Doppler radar [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques
Global measurements of horizontal winds in cloud and precipitation systems represent a gap in the global observation system. The Wind Velocity Radar Nephoscope (WIVERN) mission, one of the two candidates to be the ESA's Earth Explorer 11 mission, aims at

Doppler lidar observations of sensible heat flux and intercomparisons with a ground-based energy balance station and WRF model output [PDF]

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 2009
During the Convective and Orographically induced Precipitation Study (COPS), a scanning Doppler lidar was deployed at Achern, Baden-Wüttemberg, Germany from 13th June to 16th August 2007.

Observation error analysis for the WInd VElocity Radar Nephoscope W-band Doppler conically scanning spaceborne radar via end-to-end simulations [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2022
The WIVERN (WInd VElocity Radar Nephoscope) mission, now in Phase 0 of the ESA Earth Explorer program, promises to complement Doppler wind lidar by globally observing, for the first time, the vertical profiles of winds in cloudy areas.

Applications of QC and Merged Doppler Spectral Density Data from Ka-Band Cloud Radar to Microphysics Retrieval and Comparison with Airplane in Situ Observation

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The new Chinese Ka-band solid-state transmitter cloud radar (CR) uses four operational modes with different pulse widths and coherent integration and non-coherent integration numbers to meet long-term cloud measurement requirements.

A Decoupled Doppler Positioning Algorithm for Dynamic Receivers Using LEO Constellation Signals [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
The advancement of low-earth-orbit (LEO) communication constellations has revitalized interest in Doppler-based positioning. However, conventional Doppler positioning algorithms struggle with dynamic receivers under unknown initial states due to the ...

Continuous wave doppler pre-attenuation velocity envelope: a promising tool for the echocardiographic assessment of aortic stenosis [PDF]

open access: yesEcho Research and Practice
Background In this study, we evaluated the utility of the continuous wave (CW) Doppler pre-attenuation velocity envelope as a potential surrogate for pulsed-wave (PW) Doppler-based interrogation of left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) flow in patients ...

Observing Finescale Oceanic Velocity Structure with an Autonomous Nortek Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler

open access: yesJournal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 2018
AbstractThis paper describes the instrumentation and techniques for long-term targeted observation of the centimeter-scale velocity structure within the oceanic surface boundary layer, made possible by the recent developments in capabilities of autonomous platforms and self-contained pulse-coherent acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs). Particular

A Study on a Low-Cost IMU/Doppler Integrated Velocity Estimation Method Under Insufficient GNSS Observation Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)/Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) Loosely Coupled (LC) integration framework has been widely adopted due to its simple structure, but it relies on complete GNSS position and velocity solutions, and the rapid ...
