The Doppler Lidar for Atmospheric Wind Observation

open access: yesJournal of the Visualization Society of Japan, 2003
The multi-channel incoherent doppler lidar is currently developed under Communications Research Laboratory (CRL). This system is designed for the visualization of the stratospheric winds in clear nights. It consists of a stabilized Nd:YAG(SHG) laser, a 75cm collection mirror, Fabry-Perot interferometer and multi-ring photon detector.

Exploratory Analysis of Wind Resource and Doppler LiDAR Performance in Southern Patagonia

open access: yesWind
Southern Patagonia in Argentina possesses a world-class wind resource; however, its remote location challenges long-term monitoring. This study presents the first long-term Doppler LiDAR-based wind characterization in the region, analyzing six months of ...

Estimation of the Motion-Induced Horizontal-Wind-Speed Standard Deviation in an Offshore Doppler Lidar

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
This work presents a new methodology to estimate the motion-induced standard deviation and related turbulence intensity on the retrieved horizontal wind speed by means of the velocity-azimuth-display algorithm applied to the conical scanning pattern of a

Wind retrieval algorithm of Rayleigh Doppler lidar

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2011
The wind measurement principle and the structure of Rayleigh Doppler lidar are introduced. The method for Fabry-Perot(FP) etalon transmission curve calibration is given. The problem is pointed out that to fit the transmission curve by using Lorentz or Voigt function may induce large error: the relative error would be up to 8% by Lorentz fitting ...
