Adaptations in equine axial movement and muscle activity occur during induced fore‐ and hindlimb lameness: A kinematic and electromyographic evaluation during in‐hand trot

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1112-1127, November 2023., 2023
Abstract Background The inter‐relationship between equine thoracolumbar motion and muscle activation during normal locomotion and lameness is poorly understood. Objective To compare thoracolumbar and pelvic kinematics and longissimus dorsi (longissimus) activity of trotting horses between baseline and induced forelimb (iFL) and hindlimb (iHL) lameness.

Anatomically grounded estimation of hindlimb muscle sizes in Archosauria

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 242, Issue 2, Page 289-311, February 2023., 2023
Digitised muscle attachment areas from the hindlimbs of Nile crocodiles, tinamous and four other birds were used to estimate muscle physiological cross‐sectional areas. Some significant relationships were found, so it was deemed justifiable to estimate these areas in the theropod dinosaur Coelophysis, obtaining some different values from other studies'.

Prediction of surgical difficulty in minimally invasive surgery for rectal cancer by use of MRI pelvimetry

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 4, Page 666-677, August 2020., 2020
This study highlights the impact of MRI pelvimetry in predicting surgical difficulty in laparoscopic rectal surgery. Multivariable analysis identified that surgical difficulty was significantly associated with four variables: BMI, tumour size, anorectal angle and pelvic outlet.
