Doripenem: position in clinical practice

Expert Review of Anti-Infective Therapy, 2009
Doripenem is a novel carbapenem with a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive pathogens, anerobes and Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Doripenem exhibits rapid bactericidal activity with two- to fourfold lower MIC values for Gram-negative bacteria, compared with other carbapenems such as imipenem.

Delayed resistance selection for doripenem when passaging Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates with doripenem plus an aminoglycoside

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 2006
Doripenem (formerly S-4661), a parenteral carbapenem, was tested in combination with an aminoglycoside (gentamicin) to determine the resistance selection of these codrugs during subinhibitory passaging using 6 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates. The organisms were selected based on doripenem and gentamicin MIC values to include isolates with MIC values ...

Crystal Chemistry of the Antibiotic Doripenem

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2014
Doripenem, an ultrabroad spectrum-injectable antibiotic belonging to the wide class of carbapenem beta-lactams, is commonly marketed as powders of a pure monohydrate phase. Here, we have selectively prepared another hydrated phase (a dihydrate) and determined the crystal structure of both forms by state-of-the art powder diffraction methods.

Doripenem Pharmacokinetics in Hemodialysis

Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice, 2020
Background Doripenem is a broad spectrum carbapenem with activity against gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria. The drug concentration in target sites is an important determinant of carbapenem efficacy. Doripenem is primarily eliminated by kidneys and can be removed by hemodialysis. The purpose of this study was

Jackfruit peel cellulose nanocrystal - Alginate hydrogel for doripenem adsorption and release study.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2023
As a natural raw material to replace synthetic chemicals, cellulose and its derivatives are the most popular choices in the pharmaceutical industry. For drug delivery applications, cellulose is usually used as a cellulose nanocrystal (CNC).

Antimicrobial activity of doripenem (S-4661): a global surveillance report (2003)

open access: yesClinical Microbiology and Infection, 2005
The spectrum of activity and potency of doripenem, a broad-spectrum parenteral carbapenem currently in clinical development, was evaluated using 16 008 clinical bacterial isolates collected as part of an international surveillance project during 2003 ...
