Perspectives on leaf dorsoventral polarity
Journal of Plant Research, 2010Leaves occur in a vast array of shapes and sizes, with complex diversity contributing to optimization of the principal function of photosynthesis. The program of development from a self-renewing stem cell population to a mature leaf has been of interest to biologists for years.

Dorsoventral patterning in Drosophila oogenesis
Current Opinion in Genetics & Development, 1994Dorsoventral polarity in the egg chamber of Drosophila involves the localization of maternal gurken RNA to the dorsal side of the oocyte. The gurken protein has homology to secreted growth factors and may bind to the torpedo/DER receptor tyrosine kinase present on the adjacent follicle cells.

Segmentation and dorsoventral patterning in Tribolium
Seminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 1996Abstract Embryos of the red flour beetle,Tribolium castaneum, develop from a short germ rudiment, composed of terminal, head, and thoracic primordia covered by extra-embryonic membranes. In contrast, forDrosophila melanogaster, the entire body plan is contained within a long germ band and the extra-embryonic membranes are reduced to a patch of cells ...

Axonal redirection at the dorsoventral intraretinal boundary
Journal of Comparative Neurology, 1989AbstractCobaltous‐lysine applied to the goldfish optic nerve backfilled retinal ganglion cells and their axons. Confined to the ventronasal and ventrotemporal retina was a small population of retinal ganglion cells whose axons traveled dorsally and parallel to the retinal margin.

Palisade dorsoventral lavage for neglected peritonitis
The American Journal of Surgery, 1997A modification of the procedure of laparostomy with palisade dorsoventral lavage for treating neglected peritonitis is described. It consists of adding a polyethylene foil to cover the intestines and thus avoiding the direct contact between them from one side, and the suction drains and the palisade laparostomy screen from the other.

Maternal and Zygotic Control of Zebrafish Dorsoventral Axial Patterning
Annual Review of Genetics, 2011Vertebrate development begins with precise molecular, cellular, and morphogenetic controls to establish the basic body plan of the embryo. In zebrafish, these tightly regulated processes begin during oogenesis and proceed through gastrulation to ...

Dorsoventral Patterning of the Brain: A Comparative Approach
2009Development of the central nervous system (CNS) involves the transformation of a two-dimensional epithelial sheet of uniform ectodermal cells, the neuroectoderm, into a highly complex three-dimensional structure consisting of a huge variety of different neural cell types.

Control of dorsoventral pattern in the chick paraxial mesoderm
Development, 1997ABSTRACT The most profound feature of the mature vertebrate somite is its organisation into dorsal dermomyotome, intermediate myotome and ventral sclerotome. We analysed the role of potential signalling structures in this dorsoventral pattern by ablating them or transplanting them to ectopic locations in chick embryos.
