Dose calibration uncertainty and plan-specific dose calibration for IMRT QA
Biomedical Physics & Engineering Express, 2018Purpose: This study was to investigate IMRT QA dose calibration uncertainty that has not been realized before, and develop plan-specific calibration methods to reduce such uncertainty. Methods: IMRT plans were created on the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system.

Absolute dose calibration in PIII
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2004Accurate absolute dose measurements are still a challenge in plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII). Here, a contact-free method using a pyrometer and the sample as a thermal probe is presented. Good agreement between simulated temperature evolutions and measurements were obtained, allowing a direct determination of the incident ion flux.

Calibration of Safecast dose rate measurements
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2018A methodology is presented to calibrate contributed Safecast dose rate measurements acquired between 2011 and 2016 in the Fukushima prefecture of Japan. The Safecast data are calibrated using observations acquired by the U.S. Department of Energy at the time of the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi power plant nuclear accident.

Calibration of rectal dose-rate monitors
The British Journal of Radiology, 1986In common with many radiotherapy departments, it is standard practice at the Glasgow Institute of Radiotherapeutics and Oncology to measure the dose-rate to the recto-vaginal septum following a gynaecological caesium insertion. This checks that the treatment applicators and vaginal packing are suitably positioned to reduce the dose received by the ...

Calibration frequency of dose–area product meters
The British Journal of Radiology, 2001Calibration of patient dose monitoring devices in diagnostic radiology has become increasingly important in the light of new legislation that requires monitoring of patient dose against local and national diagnostic reference levels. An investigation was conducted into the long-term stability of 41 dose-area product (DAP) meters over a period of ...

The advantages of absorbed‐dose calibration factors
Medical Physics, 1992A formalism for clinical external beam dosimetry based on use of ion chamber absorbed‐dose calibration factors is outlined in the context and notation of the AAPM TG‐21 protocol. It is shown that basing clinical dosimetry on absorbed‐dose calibration factors ND leads to considerable simplification and reduced uncertainty in dose measurement. In keeping

[Quality control dose calibrators].
Revista espanola de medicina nuclear, 2005We have reviewed the legislation about the quality control of dose calibrator. The importance of verifying the correct work of these instruments, is fundamental in daily practice of radiopharmacy and nuclear medicine. The Spanish legislation establishes to include these controls as part of the quality control of radiopharmaceuticals, and the program of

NIST high-dose calibration services
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1989Abstract There is a need for the standardization of high-dose measurements used in the radiation-processing industry in order to provide assured traceability to national standards. NIST provides dosimetry calibration services to this industry. One of these services involves administration of known absorbed doses of gamma rays to customer-supplied ...

Cobalt‐60 dose calibration: A comparison of methods
Medical Physics, 1979Cobalt‐60 dose determination can be accomplished by a variety of methods. This study investigates dose determination by actual “at‐depth” measurement for the depths and field sizes desired as well as by “in‐air” or “in‐water” calibration measurements for both constant SSD and isocentric techniques.
