Peptides From Animal and Fishery Byproducts: Uplifting the Functionality of Fifth Quarter

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
Recovery of peptide reduces pollution, increases return, and functionality of products. Meat byproducts and processing techniques raise the sustainability of the meat industry. These peptides can also be used as active components of the packaging system. Umami peptides are used as taste enhancers for the development of new products.

Age and growth estimates of the jumbo flying squid (Dosidicus gigas) off Peru

open access: yesAquatic Living Resources, 2019
Mantle length (ML) and age data were analyzed to describe the growth patterns of the flying jumbo squid, Dosidicus gigas, in Peruvian waters. Six non-asymptotic growth models and four asymptotic growth models were fitted. Length-at-age data for males and

Antioxidant and antimicrobial peptide fractions from squid and tuna skin gelatin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
27 páginas, 4 figuras, 4 tablas.Gelatin extracted from tuna skins and giant squid tunics were hydrolysed with Alcalase at 50ºC for 3h. Two peptide fractions (1-10K and ≤1K) were obtained from each gelatin hydrolysate by subjecting them to centrifugal ...

Age, growth and reproductive biology of diamond-shaped squid Thysanoteuthis rhombus (Oegopsida:Thysanoteuthidae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Age and growth of the large oceanic squid Thysanoteuthis rhombus were estimated by statolith increment analysis of 72 specimens [mantle length (ML) ranging from 25 to 805 mm] and reproductive biology was studied on 162 T.

Linking Water to the Bottom: eDNA Study of Benthic Invertebrates and Invasive Species in the Venice Lagoon

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 7, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
This study used environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding of superficial water samples to assess benthic invertebrate biodiversity in the Venice Lagoon. Sampling from surface water revealed 80 taxonomic units, mostly benthic species, including several invasive ones, with significant spatial and seasonal variations in community composition.

Reproductive System Structure, Development and Function in Cephalopods with a New General Scale for Maturity Stages [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The main types of reproductive system structure, development and functions in cephalopods are described from personal observations and use of the literature. There is one type in males and three in females which are order specific.

Analysis of Biochemical Compositions and Evaluation of Nutritional Value in Different Triploid Oysters

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study systematically investigated the differences of conventional nutrients, amino acids and fatty acids compositions among three triploid oysters (GG‐autotriploid: Crassostrea gigas♀ × C. gigas tetraploid♂, GA‐allotriploid: C. gigas♀ × C. angulata tetraploid♂, and GGA‐allotriploid: C. gigas♀ × hybrid tetraploid [C. gigas♀ × Crassostrea angulata♂]♂
