Dosimetric verification of RapidArc treatment delivery

Acta Oncologica, 2009
Recently, Varian Medical Systems have announced the introduction of a new treatment technique, in which dose is delivered over a single gantry rotation with variable MLC positions, dose rate and gantry speed. In February 2008, a preclinical installation of the RapidArc beam delivery approach was carried out on a Varian Clinac at Rigshospitalet in ...

Dosimetric verification of intensity‐modulated fields

Medical Physics, 1996
The optimization of intensity distributions and the delivery of intensity‐modulated treatments with dynamic multi‐leaf collimators (MLC) offer important improvements to three‐dimensional conformal radiotherapy. In this study, a nine‐beam intensity‐modulated prostate plan was generated using the inverse radiotherapy technique.

Dosimetric verification of gynecological implants

Proceedings of the 22nd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (Cat. No.00CH37143), 2002
Over the past 100 years brachytherapy has been used for the treatment of gynecological malignancies. These treatments have evolved from a manual to after loading to mechanical device based treatments. Various treatment schemes have been developed such as Stockholm, Paris and Manchester systems for the source loading.

Statistical process control for IMRT dosimetric verification

Medical Physics, 2008
Patient‐specific measurements are typically used to validate the dosimetry of intensity‐modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). To evaluate the dosimetric performance over time of our IMRT process, we have used statistical process control (SPC) concepts to analyze the measurements from 330 head and neck (H&N) treatment plans.

Quantitative analysis of patient-specific dosimetric IMRT verification

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2004
Patient-specific dosimetric verification methods for IMRT treatments are variable, time-consuming and frequently qualitative, preventing evidence-based reduction in the amount of verification performed. This paper addresses some of these issues by applying a quantitative analysis parameter to the dosimetric verification procedure.

Dosimetric IMRT verification with a flat‐panel EPID

Medical Physics, 2003
A convolution‐based calibration procedure has been developed to use an amorphous silicon flat‐panel electronic portal imaging device (EPID) for accurate dosimetric verification of intensity‐modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) treatments. Raw EPID images were deconvolved to accurate, high‐resolution 2‐D distributions of primary fluence using a scatter kernel ...

Dosimetric verification of a commercial inverse treatment planning system

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1999
A commercial three-dimensional (3D) inverse treatment planning system, Corvus (Nomos Corporation, Sewickley, PA), was recently made available. This paper reports our preliminary results and experience with commissioning this system for clinical implementation.

Surface and superficial dose dosimetric verification for postmastectomy radiotherapy

Medical Dosimetry, 2012
In patients given postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT), the chest wall is a very thin layer of soft tissue with a low-density lung tissue behind. Chest wall treated in this situation with a high-energy photon beam presents a high dosimetric uncertainty region for both calculation and measurement.

Dosimetric verification of helical tomotherapy for total scalp irradiation

Medical Physics, 2008
Total scalp irradiation is a treatment technique used for a variety of superficial malignancies. Helical tomotherapy is an effective technique used for total scalp irradiation. Recent published work has shown the TomoTherapy planning system to overestimate the superficial dose.

The ArcCHECK diode array for dosimetric verification of HybridArc

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2011
The aim of this work is to evaluate dosimetric accuracy of a new treatment modality, HybridArc, in iPlan RT Dose 4.5 (BrainLAB, Feldkirchen, Germany) using a four-dimensional diode array (ArcCHECK, Sun Nuclear Corporation, Melbourne, USA). HybridArc is able to enhance dynamic conformal arcs with inversely planned elements.
