Quality assurance procedures based on dosimetric, gamma analysis as a fast reliable tool for commissioning brachytherapy treatment planning systems

open access: yesRadiology and Oncology, 2017
Fast and easily repeatable methods for commissioning procedures for brachytherapy (BT) treatment planning systems (TPS) are needed. Radiochromic film dosimetry with gamma analysis is widely used in external beam quality assurance (QA) procedures and ...

Dosimetric evidence confirms computational model for magnetic field induced dose distortions of therapeutic proton beams

open access: yes, 2017
Given the sensitivity of proton therapy to anatomical variations, this cancer treatment modality is expected to benefit greatly from integration with magnetic resonance (MR) imaging.

Experimental verification of acuros XB in the presence of lung-equivalent heterogeneities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Acuros XB (AXB) is a deterministic algorithm that directly accounts for the effects of heterogeneities and improves the accuracy of photon dose calculations in radiotherapy. Nevertheless, the accuracy of AXB inside lung has not been yet fully examined by

Dosimetric verification of the Elekta motorized wedge

open access: yesArchives of Advances in Biosciences, 2018
Elekta linear accelerator is equipped with a motorized wedge which produces the wedge angles of less than 60° continuously by the combination of a wedged field and an open field with appropriate proportions. The effective wedge angles for various field sizes and depths were calculated using an analytical formula and a 2-D array detector data.

Dosimetric verification of micro‐MLC based intensity modulated radiation therapy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, 2008
A methodology for the dosimetric verification of micro‐multileaf collimator (mMLC) based intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) plans intended for stereotactic applications is described. The method is similar to that of conventional IMRT patient‐specific quality assurance (QA) with some notable exceptions, particularly, mechanical tests that ...
