Cercospora beticola: The intoxicating lifestyle of the leaf spot pathogen of sugar beet

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 21, Issue 8, Page 1020-1041, August 2020., 2020
The hemibiotrophic fungus Cercospora beticola applies various virulence strategies to infect sugar beet and is currently only managed in‐field through integrated practices. Abstract Cercospora leaf spot, caused by the fungal pathogen Cercospora beticola, is the most destructive foliar disease of sugar beet worldwide. This review discusses C.

Table3_Population structure and diversity of the needle pathogen Dothistroma pini suggests human-mediated movement in Europe.docx

open access: yes, 2023
Dothistroma needle blight (DNB) is an important disease of Pinus species that can be caused by one of two distinct but closely related pathogens; Dothistroma septosporum and Dothistroma pini. Dothistroma septosporum has a wide geographic distribution and

Population structure and genetic diversity suggest recent introductions of Dothistroma pini in Slovakia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Dothistroma pini is one of two pathogens causing Dothistroma needle blight (DNB), a foliar disease of pines. The species was redefined in 2004 and subsequently recorded in several European countries.

Pests and pathogens threatening urban vegetation in ‘St. George’ City Park in Dobrich, northeastern Bulgaria  [PDF]

open access: yesSilva Balcanica
Urban environments host invasive species that threaten tree and shrub vegetation in green infrastructure. In recent years, non-native pests and pathogens have been identified in Bulgaria, causing significant damage to host plants and altering the species

Lecanosticta acicola: A growing threat to expanding global pine forests and plantations

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 20, Issue 10, Page 1327-1364, October 2019., 2019
Summary Lecanosticta acicola causes brown spot needle blight (BSNB) of Pinus species. The pathogen occurs mostly in the Northern Hemisphere but has also been reported in Central America and Colombia. BSNB can lead to stunted growth and tree mortality, and has resulted in severe damage to pine plantations in the past.

Biology, Detection, and Management of Lecanosticta acicola: Emerging Challenges for the Management of Brown Spot Needle Blight in Pine Forests

open access: yesForest Pathology, Volume 56, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Brown spot needle blight (BSNB), caused by the fungus Lecanosticta acicola, is a widely distributed foliar disease of pines that causes needle necrosis, premature defoliation, and growth loss in both natural forests and commercial plantations. Although L.
