Double-difference relocations of the 2004 off the Kii peninsula earthquakes [PDF]
Abstract Two large earthquakes (Mw7.3 and Mw7.5) occurred off-shore of the Kii peninsula (Japan) on 5th September 2004. The insufficient station coverage in the area where the large events and their aftershocks occurred led to significant uncertainty regarding their depth location.

We investigate an earthquake sequence involving an Mw = 4.6 mainshock on 2 December 2020, followed by a seismic swarm in July–October 2021 near Thiva, Central Greece, to identify the activated structures and understand its triggering mechanisms. For this

Seismicity Structure of the Northern Chile Forearc From >100,000 Double‐Difference Relocated Hypocenters [PDF]
AbstractIn this study, we present high‐resolution seismicity images of the northern Chile subduction zone forearc. We used 8 years of continuous seismic waveform data from the Integrated Plate Boundary Observatory Chile network and auxiliary stations to produce an extensive earthquake catalog containing 101,601 double‐difference relocated earthquake ...

Crustal structure and the seismogenic environment in Yunnan imaged by double-difference tomography
The large-scale faulting and earthquake activities that developed extensively in the Yunnan area are associated with the collision of India and Eurasia. The fine crustal structure can provide a better understanding of the crustal deformation, seismogenic

The relocation of the earthquake hypocentre is necessary in order to determine the position of the earthquake centre with higher accuracy. An accurate hypocentre position is important for earthquake-prone areas mapping, seismicity analysis, and fault zone identification. The double difference algorithm technique using the hypoDD program can be used for

Double difference relocation of local earthquakes in the Nepal Himalaya
Interseismic strain across the Himalaya is associated with intense microseismic activity. In this study we analyze in detail this seismicity to explore in more details how it relates to Himalayan tectonics. We use the Double Difference Relocation Method to relocate local earthquakes recorded by National Seismological Centre in the period between 1995 ...
