The Double Hurdle Model in the Presence of Fixed Costs

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2003
We present a model of market participation in which the presence of nonnegligible fixed costs leads to non-zero censoring of the traditional double-hurdle regression. Fixed costs arise when household resources must be devoted a priori to the decision to participate in the market.

Double Hurdle Model: Not if, but When Will Customer Attrite?

2016
Similar to the SDM, this chapter attempts to introduce a class of model known as double hurdle models (originally proposed by Cragg (1971)), which allows the potential attrition and the extent of attrition to be modeled separately. This double hurdle model of attrition is attempted for a European auto finance portfolio.

A Double-Hurdle Quantification Model for Freezing of Gait of Parkinson's Patients

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering
Freezing of gait (FOG) leads to an increased risk of falls and limited mobility in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD). However, existing research ignores the fine-grained quantitative assessment of FOG severity. This paper provides a double-hurdle model that uses typical spatiotemporal gait features to quantify the FOG severity in patients with ...

Bayesian Estimation of the Double Hurdle Model in the Presence of Fixed Costs

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2005
We present a model of market participation in which the presence of non-negligible fixed costs leads to random censoring of the traditional double-hurdle model. Fixed costs arise when household resources must be devoted a priori to the decision to participate in the market.
